WHAT IS ALKALINE WATER?

Alkaline water is produced through electrolysis, a process that separates the acid from the alkaline minerals. When consumed, alkaline water helps to neutralize and flush out acid wastes that have accumulated as a result of an unhealthy diet, carbonated beverages, stress, and pollution.

As a result of the electrolysis process, Regency Elite Water will have a negative oxygen reduction potential, or an affinity for the free radicals that attack cell tissue. WHAT ABOUT MINERALS?

The Regency Elite rearranges the healthy minerals that are native to your tap water, according to their electrical charge. This is done through electrolysis. The negative or alkaline minerals are drawn to the positive electrode, and the positive or acidic minerals are attracted to the negative electrode within this chamber. FUNCTIONS OF THE WATER IONIZER

City water and well water

City supplied tap water contains an ample supply of acid minerals and alkaline minerals. They use acids to kill living organisms in the water supply. Then the water is too acidic to be sent out through the pipes. If this water is too acidic, it will leach out lead from soldered pipe joints. Lead is a poisonous metal. So limestone (carbonate of calcium) is added to make it alkaline. In general, city supplied tap water contains more alkaline minerals than the water from a private well.

The common alkaline minerals found in tap water are calcium, magnesium, sodium and potassium. The acid minerals are chlorine, sulfur and phosphorus. They are the same minerals found in our foods. Water gets its minerals from the soil and so does food. Therefore, it is not surprising that the same inorganic minerals are found in water and food.

A water ionizer has two water chambers with positive and negative electrodes. The negative electrode attracts positive minerals, which are alkaline minerals, to its chamber, while the positive electrode attracts negative minerals, which are acid minerals, to its chamber. The water going into the water ionizer has both minerals mixed together, but by the time the ionization process is through, one chamber has nothing but alkaline minerals and the other chamber, only acid minerals.
Ionization

The two chambers are separated by a special membrane with very tiny holes, holes so small that water molecules (usually in structured clusters under an electric field) cannot go through, but large enough for the ionized inorganic minerals to go through.

The original units had two one gallon chambers and it took about 15 to 20 minutes to completely ionize the water. The newer units don’t have two large water storage chambers, but they have two small compartments for the water to flow through. The ionization takes place while water is running through the ionizer. (The newer units come with a charcoal filter to remove pollutants before the ionization process occurs.)

In other words, you turn on the water and push the switch, and instantly you get a stream of alkaline water from the top, and another stream of acid water from the bottom. The ionizer does not add any chemicals or minerals to the water. It only splits the minerals already in the water to the alkaline side and the acid side. If the water has no minerals, an ionizer cannot make alkaline or acid water.
Increase of oxygen in alkaline water

Alkaline water has excess oxygen, more than the 2 to 1 ratio of H2O water. The ionizer does not grab oxygen molecules from the air and put them in the alkaline water. What happens is that as the positively charged alkaline minerals come across the membrane into the alkaline chamber, they kick out one hydrogen atom from a water molecule and it joins with hydroxyl ions (OH-).

The hydrogen ions (H+) that have been kicked out receive an electron from the negative electrode to be de-ionized and become a hydrogen molecule (H2) and bubble out of the water. In the newer machine, the ionization takes place in such a short period of time that when you catch the alkaline water in a glass you can see the tiny hydrogen bubbles moving up. The alkaline water initially looks cloudy but it clears up within a few seconds.

In the acid chamber the reverse phenomena take place and the oxygen is kicked out as O2 gas, and the remaining water is acid water which is oxygen deficient.
