Q1: Is any water with high pH good?
The higher the pH the more OH- ions in the water. However, it is dangerous to conclude that any water with a high pH is good. I can add potassium cyanide into water to raise the pH, but that water would obviously be fatal. High pH water, obtained from 'drinkable' water by filtering out pollutants and removing acid minerals and enhancing alkaline minerals that were in the original water, is good. Not just any high pH water.
Q2: Could any harm be done by drinking too much alkaline water with a pH as high as 10?
The answer is no. It takes 32 glasses of this alkaline water to neutralize the acidic effect of a glass of well-known brand cola with a pH of 2.5. Alkaline water with a pH of 11.5 will neutralize this cola drink on a one to one basis.
Q3: Can the ionizer produce alkaline water without creating acid water?
No, unless the original water was acid free to begin with. In that case the pH of the alkaline water will be about 0.3 higher than the original water pH and the acid side water pH will be near 7, a neutral value.
Q4: Can I buy alkaline water in the store?
Not yet. High pH alkaline water must be bottled in glass bottles. Plastic bottles allow carbon dioxide in the atmosphere to pass through and it forms carbonic acid, H2CO3, thus lowering the water pH. Because the alkaline water is saturated with calcium ions, the carbonic acid can form calcium carbonate, CaCO3, and precipitate to the bottom of the water bottle.
Although it does not look clear, there is no harm in drinking the water. There is no loss of any alkaline minerals. The carbonic acid is a volatile acid and your lungs can breath CO2 out and the full benefit of the original alkaline water will remain. But it is difficult to sell this slightly creamy looking water. If you are making alkaline water at home, it is perfectly alright to put it in a plastic bottle and to store it in the refrigerator for a couple of days, without losing its alkalinity.
I do visualize alkaline water eventually being sold in a glass jug or bottle. It should be a 'must' drink at the gym or spa, and people with any diet program should want it. It would be more expensive than any regular mineral water in a plastic bottle.

Will I need any additional parts in order to install my Regency Elite Water Ionizer?
About 10% of all faucets do not have the standard screw thread that will fit the faucet diverter that comes with Regency Elite Water Ionizers. If you find the faucet diverter will not fit your sink, note what kind of faucet you have and take the Regency Elite faucet adapter to any hardware store and they will have the necessary parts you will need.
What kind of warranty does the Water Ionizer have on it?
The Regency Elite has a 2 year warranty.
What is your return policy?

Do I absolutely have to use my tap water with the Regency Elite Water Ionizer or is there a way to use the 5 gallon water bottles?
You can purchase Recreational Vehicle 5 Gallon Pump which is designed to pump water from a 5 gallon water bottle to a sink faucet or refrigerator ice machine. This could also be used to pump bottled water from the 5 gallon container to the Regency Elite Water Ionizer. All that would be need is the necessary fittings (available at any hardware store) to use the R.V. Pump to deliver water to the Regency Elite Water Ionizer.
I tried the pH color indicator drops that come with the Regency Elite Water Ionizer but it seems to indicate that the water has not changed much in pH. What is the problem?
First, the pH color indicator drops of any kind are not terribly accurate. For absolute accuracy, we recommend the Hanna Digital Champ pH Meter. However, if you slow down the flow of the water, you will see the Alkaline Water will become stronger because the water has more contact time with the platinum electrodes. The color test indicator will produce a purple result, meaning the water is indeed quite Alkaline. Another test you can use to determine if your Regency Elite Water Ionizer is working properly is to take a clear glass and fill it with alkaline water that is flowing slowly through the unit. You will see very small bubbles in the water. That is the antioxidant that will revert to oxygen and give you lots of Energy.
I hooked everything up correctly, plugged in the unit and turned on the water. The water comes out but the lights don't come on. What is the problem?
Check the fuse in back of the Regency Elite Water Ionizer. That is most likely the problem since Regency Elite Water Ionizers are extremely reliable and have less the a 1% failure rate. The fuse is a standard 4 amp fuse obtainable at any electronics store such as Radio Shack.
The water came out dark the first time it ran through the Regency Elite Water Ionizer. What that normal?
That is what is called "fine" coming off the carbon in the filter and it is normal. It will clear up within the first few seconds of use.
I began using the Regency Elite Water Ionizer and the green filter light indicator is near the top. Do I need to buy a new filter?
The main purpose of the carbon filter is to remove chlorine, which means the filter is designed to be used with municipal water. How often the filter should be changed depends on how much chlorine there is in your municipal water. If there is a lot of chlorine in the water, the filter should be changed once a year. If there is not as much the filter cartridge should be changed every 2 years. Contact your water authority to get this information. Anything over .5 ppm of chlorine is considered above average. If you have well water the filter will may last longer, watch the filter indicator. The carbon filter will also remove other unwanted elements found in drinking water such as VOCs (benzene, trihalomethanes, etc).
The green filter light has risen to the top of the unit and the music won't stop playing. How do I reset it?
Open the filter panel on the left side of the unit and push the red button in the upper right hand corner behind the filter WHILE THE WATER IS RUNNING. The green filter light will reset.
Why does the unit play music when I first turn it on and after every ten minutes of use?
Regency Elite Water Ionizer either beeps or plays music when it is in cleaning mode, which means the electrodes have reverse polarity and acid water is coming out the silver tube and alkaline water is coming on the tube that runs into the sink. This happens when you initially turn the Regency Elite Water Ionizer on by running water through it and after ten minutes of use. Self-cleaning dramatically extends the use of the electrodes. Never drink the water from the Regency Elite Water Ionizer when it is cleaning mode.

How much water should I drink and at what level when I first get the Regency Elite Water Ionizer?
This will depend partly on what kind of shape you are in physically when you initially start drinking Ionized Water. For instance, if you have made a conscious effort to eat well and keep your body detoxified you can start drinking Ionized Water at higher levels 4 or 5.
However, if you have been on medication for some time, or have had a poor diet of fast food, processed food, or a diet void of fresh fruits and vegetables, you may need to begin drinking Ionized Water on Level One. Start by drinking an 8 oz. glass of water slowly. If you do not feel any negative effects, try another glass later in the day. If you are fine with that, move up to the next level. The stronger you can drink Ionized Water, the better it is for you because the water is more Alkaline, more Detoxifying, and a stronger Antioxidant that provides your body with more Oxygen.
Why do some people get headaches and diarrhea when first drinking this water?
The Ionization process creates water molecule clusters that are half the size of regular water molecule clusters. This is why Ionized Water is sometimes referred to as "reduced water" because it has become reduced in size from a 12 water molecule cluster to 6 water molecule cluster. This makes the water much more hydrating because it flows through our body tissue more easily, thus pushing toxins out of our system. It is this detoxifying effect that sometimes gives people headaches and diarrhea and why there are 5 levels of strength on Regency Elite Water Ionizers. All Water Ionizers should have more than one level.
What should I expect from drinking Ionized Water?
This will initially depend on what level of strength you begin drinking Ionized Water. Ionized Water provides your body with lots of oxygen, which is why it gives us energy. Ionized Water is much smoother tasting than conventional water. It makes better coffee, tea, juice, etc. Alkaline Water is wonderful to cook with because it helps hydrate the food and bring out its flavor.
However, other changes in your body after drinking Ionized Water will be much more subtle and will take some time. If you have accumulated acid waste in your system, it probably took years for you to get into that condition and it will take some time to reverse it. As the body is slowly brought into pH balance by drinking Ionized Water, it will naturally begin to function more efficiently and problems will begin to correct themselves. Ionized Water, Spirulina and Chlorella may be added to your diet to help bring your body into balance naturally by providing it with the oxygen, alkalinity and the basic nutrients it needs so it can heal itself and prevent diseases from occurring in the first place.
Is is all right for children to drink Ionized Water?
Absolutely. It naturally gives children tremendous amounts of oxygen that helps their bodies function efficiently, as it does with everyone who drinks it. Having extra amounts of oxygen in our blood also naturally helps us to fight disease and build a strong immune system. Since children usually have NOT accumulated toxins in their bodies, they suffer none of the ill effects of detoxification such as headaches, diarrhea, etc.
Is there anyone who should not drink Ionized Water?
No. However, some people must start by drinking very small amounts of Ionized Water, such as 8 oz. of Level One Ionized Water per day. This is especially true of the elderly who often have unfortunately allowed heavy metals and other toxins to accumulate in their bodies. Sometimes years of medication has accumulated in them. Toxins and heavy metals that have accumulated in people over decades can lead to diseases such as Alzheimer's Disease, Dementia and a host of other mental disorders and psychiatric diseases.
Can a person become too Alkaline from drinking Ionized Water ?
People have been known to drink as much as 1 to 2 gallons of Ionized Water every day and gotten great benefit from it. And they have not become too Alkaline. On the contrary, one of the most common imbalances people have today that leads to health problems is that they are too acidic. Our body pH should be approximately 7.0 (measured through saliva or urine). The more acidic we are, meaning a 6.6 pH or lower, the greater opportunity we have provided disease to flourish in us. A low body pH creates an environment in our bodies which is conducive to diseases such as arthritis, cancer, etc to flourish. You can observe that people who are very sick always have a very low body pH. (Not blood pH, which is always stable around 7.4) The sicker they are, the lower the body pH. Diseases will further create this acidic condition in us in order to better thrive. In short, it is very difficult for us to become too Alkaline. In fact, it is rare for a person to acquire Alkalosis, the condition of being too Alkaline. We should always drink Alkaline Water and eat Alkaline Foods
What exactly is Ionized Water?
Ionization simply means to gain or loose an electron. Water that has been ionized becomes ether alkaline or acidic, meaning that the pH has been adjusted up or down. Alkaline water is full of Hydroxyl ions. This is the water that we drink that has many Heath Benefits as will be described below. Acidic water is full of Hydrogen ions. This is water that we only apply to the outside of our body. It is also beneficial for plant growth.
How does the Water Ionizer produce ionized water?
Water is run over positive and negative electrodes, which ionizes the water. It accomplishes this by electrically "charging" the water into positive and negative ions. It is then separated into alkaline and acidic water as it passes through a membrane.
Why should I Drink Ionized Water?
There are three main benefits to Ionized Water.
First and foremost, it is a powerful antioxidant. People spend hundreds of pounds purchasing antioxidants because they are anti-diseases, anti-aging, anticancer, which they accomplish through neutralizing free radicals. Free Radical damage causes disease and allows us to age quicker. Since Ionized Water is a liquid antioxidant, it is easily absorbed into the body, this makes it much more effective as a powerful antioxidant.
Once the Ionized Antioxidant in the form of Hydroxyl Ions (an oxygen molecule with an extra electron) donates its extra electrons to free radicals (a oxygen molecule that is missing one electron). This basically means that you have lots more oxygen available.. Ionized Water gives you Energy by providing your body with more of what is needed "oxygen". This is one of the most health- enhancing aspects of Ionized Water.
Secondly, Ionized Water Balances body pH because it is very acidic. Our diet is often extremely acidic. Soft drinks, fast foods and processed foods deposit acid waste in our bodies this builds up over time and creates an ideal environment for diseases of all kinds to exist. For instance, look at any cancer patient and their bodies are invariably acidic to some degree. This is even true with children. Chronic soft drink consumers such as children and adults put themselves in danger by allowing their bodies to build up acidic waste. Some can end up with serious diseases at a very young age. Maintaining an alkaline pH (6.9 - 7.2) helps us to maintain an environment in our bodies that is NOT conducive to disease. It may take years depending on how acidic your body is. Because of its alkaline properties ionized water will start to flush out the accumulated acidic wastes from our bodies.
Ionized Water is meant to work as a preventative measure. However if you are ill it always helps to stay Alkaline. Spirulina and Chlorella are also helpful with an acidic state.
Thirdly, Ionized Water has a different molecular cluster size. It contains only five to six water molecules instead of the ten to thirteen that conventional water molecule clusters have. In other words its reduced / smaller. It has changed from an irregular shape that is 10-13 molecule to a hexagonal regular shape that is half the size. This smaller or "reduced" water is much more hydrating "wetter" than conventional water. Because Ionized Water is more hydrating "wetter" than conventional water, its detoxifying properties are 3 times more stronger than conventional water.
The detoxification properties of Ionized Water are powerful and sometimes astounding. They simply can not be ignored. A Water Ionizer has different levels of intensity because the average person cannot start out drinking strongly ionized water. This is particularly true of the elderly or ill people, who need to start out at the lowest level and work their way slowly to other levels. Most people have spent a lifetime building up acidic wastes in their bodies, they may suffer headaches and diarrhea if they drink too much too soon or use the wrong level on starting. It is always advisable to start on level 1 of the Regency Elite, sipping the water slowly throughout the day.
How does Ionized Water taste compare with conventional water ?
A common remark regarding the taste of Ionized Water is that it tastes smoother than conventional water. This is because of the molecule duster size and shape being smaller and regular shaped, it feels smooth because it is smooth. It does not fill you up and bloat you the way conventional water would, if you drink a lot of it at once.
How Long does Ionized Water stay Ionized ?
The Antioxidant (hydroxyl ions) will last approximately 18-24 hours.
The Higher pH (alkaline properties) will last approximately 1-2 weeks.

If put in the fridge it will last longer, but if you own a Regency Elite unit this should not be necessary unless it's a hot summer.
Does Ionized Water have any negative effects ?
Absolutely none, as long as it is used properly. Only the alkaline water should be consumed.

Who should drink it ?
Everyone, young and old, human or animal. It will be beneficial to some degree to nearly everyone and everything it comes in contact with its Alkalizing effects.
How should I start drinking it ?
Start out slow at level one, drinking 1-3 glasses per day. If the water agrees with you, increase the amount you drink and the level of Ionization intensity. The stronger, the better, but take your time in building up to the higher levels. The antioxidant is most powerful on the high levels. You will of course experience more energy at the higher levels. The fresher the ionized Water is, the stronger the properties of the Alkaline / Acid water are. The detoxification can be STRONG and unmistakable. However, this only usually lasts a short time.
Can It be used Commercially ?
Yes in innumerable ways, in the dairy industry, with Live Stock, healthier; faster growing crops, etc. All this is now being demonstrated, albeit slowly, to these industries. The Alkaline Ionized Water should be fed to the animals. The Acidic Ionized Water will benefit the crops, as well as the livestock in that it will help to keep a lower mortality rate and cleaner environment, ACIDIC water retards bacteria and bacterial growth. How does Ionized Water affect athletes ?
In an extremely positive way, as you might expect from what has been said, Blood oxygen levels will rise in varying amounts with regular use of strong Ionized Water. This will increase stamina, endurance and provides the muscular tissues and organs with high amounts of oxygen. Some advertising has stated that Korean Water Ionizers are poor quality and do not stand up to the quality of Japanese Water Ionizers. How does one sort through this and determine which units are good ones?
It simply isn't true that Japanese Water Ionizers are better quality than the Korean made Water Ionizers. Other companies have stated that they have examined a 1993 version of a Korean Water Ionizer. However, this unit is not even remotely related to the Regency Elite Water Ionizer made by Regency Elite that we currently sell. It was made entirely by a different company in Korea. Is the Regency Elite Analogue or Digital and what is the difference between these two ?
Analogue is yesterday's technology. Virtually everything that utilizes computer technology is digital today. Older Japanese units use analogue technology, which hasn't been used in the Korean Water Ionizer business for nearly five years.
Regency Elite uses state of the art MICOM Technology to implement the entire ionization process. That way nothing is left to chance and the proof is in the water: The Regency Elite ionization levels provide a pH of 8.5 to 10+ Alkaline, and 6.5 to 3.4 Acidic. A high Alkaline pH can taste salty e.g. level 5 on the Regency Elite and may not taste as good. However, the water does not actually become salty. Where does the Regency Elite Water Ionizer connect ?
At any sink in the house or at work. The unit comes with a diverter. It is not possible to make a diverter that will fit every tap, the diverter that comes with the unit fits onto a single tap on any standard sink. If you have a mixer tap and the diverter does not fit Diverters may be purchased at a local hardware store.
Does the Regency Elite have a built In Carbon Filter ?
Yes it does, it is silver activated carbon filter, which is very effective at removing chlorine from municipal water source. The should be replaced every 6-18 months depending on the level of chlorinating and particulate in your water supply.
Where are Water Ionizers currently manufactured ?
Water Ionizers are manufactured in two countries, Japan and Korea. None are known to be currently manufactured in the United States or United Kingdom There are water ionizers on the market being sold as American Made, however all their parts are imported from Japan or sometimes Korea, and simply assembled in the US.
How long have Water Ionizers been on the market ?
Water Ionizers have been available in the orient for over forty years and in the United States for about 10 years. They were popularized in Japan and began to become somewhat common there round about the mid 1980's. Several Japanese models in recent years from Japan are no longer being manufactured, although getting filters for those units usually does not pose a significant problem, but they can sometimes be costly. Water Ionizers have been imported from Korea since the early 1990's, into America primarily from Jupiter International which produces the Regency Elite. In Canada their import has only just recently been established.
What countries manufacturer Water Ionizers ?
Water Ionizers manufactured in Korea and Japan most are quality Water Ionizers. These deliver high quality levels of the desired ionization, pH range of approximately 5.5 to 10 dependent on water supply flow etc. Clearly, the consumer must decide whether the Water ionizer is worth the price that is being charged for it, and which ionizer unit is value for the money.
Should a Water Ionizer have a circuit breaker or fuse ?
It does not matter whether a Water Ionizer has a fuse or a circuit breaker, although circuit breakers in Water Ionizers often have weak transformers that overheat. This usually requires a circuit breaker rather than a fuse. If a fuse was used it would need to replaced often, because of the overheating possibility.
Why do different Water Ionizers come with a different selection levels of intensity ?
A Water Ionizer should have at least 3 levels of intensity to chose from. This is mainly because Ionized Water is extremely detoxifying and people who have toxins that have built up in their system can suffer reactions such as headaches or diarrhea. This is especially true of the elderly because they have often built up many toxins in their bodies over the years. Also those who have a very poor diet or have taken a lot of medicine e.g. antibiotics. The Regency Elite Water Ionizer has 5 levels of intensity, which does not mean it makes stronger Ionized Water than a unit that has only 3 levels. Having 5 levels simply offers the convenience to choose which level of strength to start with, thus allowing people to build up their tolerance to the detoxification process slowly from the Ionized Water. Instead of just having 3 or 4 levels with stronger ionized water giving you a stronger detoxification process.
Is the volume a Water Ionizer produces per minute important ? Are some Water Ionizers on the market stronger than other Water Ionizers?
All home Water Ionizers currently manufactured deliver approximately 1 to 1-1/2 gallons per minute. There is very little difference between the strength of the various Water Ionizers on the market. Ionized Water with a pH of 10 or higher has only an unflattering taste, almost as though it is salty. The slower you run water through a Water Ionizer, the stronger it will become because the source water has more contact time with the electrodes. This is why the flow rate of Water Ionizers essentially does not matter. If you wish to drink strong Ionized Water then running the source water through it very slowly will accomplish a stronger Ionized water.
Do all Water Ionizer have a Calcium Port and what is its function ?
Some Water Ionizers such as the Regency Elite Water Ionizer come with a port / compartment where calcium, magnesium and other minerals can be added, this boosts the intensity of the Ionized Water. Once minerals have been Ionized they are assimilated into the body more easily. The more minerals that are in the source water used to produce the Ionized Water, the stronger it will be. This is why Ionized Water CAN NOT be made from Distilled, Purified or Reverse Osmosis.
Does it matter what the electrodes on a Water Ionizer are composed of ?
The electrodes are one of the most important components of a Water Ionizer. It is sometimes suggested that there are units on the market that have stainless steel electrodes and this simply is not the case. All Water Ionizers currently manufactured have titanium electrodes with platinum tips, which is one of the largest costs of a Water Ionizer.
Do all Water Ionizers have a carbon filter and why do some Carbon Filters have silver impregnation ?
All continuous flow Home Water Ionizers on the market have a carbon filter. The Regency Elite Water Ionizer comes with a silver impregnated carbon filter. The carbon in the Regency Elite filter is silver impregnated in order to retard bacterial growth. The silver that is impregnated in the carbon will NOT leach into the water. Every major manufacturer of carbon filters in the US & UK produces carbon filters with silver impregnation There are no Water Ionizers currently manufactured that use arsenic in their filters as has been suggested.
What is the advantage of having a UV light on a Water Ionizer ?
The purpose of UV light is for bacterial disinfecting. However, on a Water Ionizer this is completely unnecessary for several reasons. If you have city (municipal) water then your water has already been disinfected through the use of chlorine. The carbon filter on the Water Ionizer will remove the chlorine. The UV light itself loses much of its effectiveness after the first six months of use and should be replaced often, which is of course an expensive proposition. Also, the glass tube that the water travels through in order that it can be exposed to the UV light develops a film on it after only a few months, which greatly lessens the effectiveness of the UV light on the water which passes through the tube. Most manufacturing industries use SLOW running water with LONG UV tubes, so it is questionable as to how effective a Small UV tube over faster running water is ? This is not logical.
Do Water Ionizers remove fluoride from the water as some have claimed ?
There have been statements made regarding Water Ionizers removing fluoride from municipal water supplies. Water Ionizers can not remove anything from the water. To Ionize means simply to gain or loose an electron. The amount and type of minerals that are present in the water before Ionization is the same after Ionization, except that they are as a basic statement "split" into acid and alkaline minerals, hence the two outlets.
In every test we are aware of, no more than 30% of the fluoride in the water was lost on the Alkaline side of the Ionized Water. This means that a maximum 30% of the fluoride, not all of the fluoride in the Water has migrated to the acidic side after the Ionization process, which runs into the drain.
It must be clearly stated that the Ionizing water does NOT completely remove fluoride from the Ionized Water on the alkaline side outlet.
Why is there such a large Price difference between Japanese and Korean Water Ionizers ?
Water Ionizers are very much like any other appliance on the market in that a $100 appliance essentially performs the same function as a $400 appliance. The $400 appliance may have all the frills, however the more bells and whistles, the greater chance something is going to break. Usually, importing goods from Japan means dealing in a system of built-in middlemen, which Korea does not have. The Regency Elite is imported directly from the manufacturer in Korea, which results in savings for the consumer.
